Durham defender Sarah Robson has announced the news that she is pregnant.
The 37-year-old Northern Ireland international announced the news via a post on his personal X account this evening.
Robson will now miss the remainder of the current season as her pregnancy progresses. She expects to give birth in April 2025 and will have the full support of the club throughout her pregnancy.
The veteran defender has made six appearances for Durham this season in the Barclays Women’s Championship, with five of those appearances coming from the bench. She was a substitute as the Wildcats were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland at Maiden Castle on Sunday afternoon in the A690 derby. Robson will now support the team from the sidelines as he prepares to welcome the newest member of his family.
Robson retires from her first team appearance after helping Durham to a strong start to the new season in the Barclays Women’s Championship. The Wildcats have taken 12 points from 18 available so far and find themselves in fourth position in the league table. Durham will not need many more points to secure league status for next season, while the club can maintain a challenge in the top half of the table.
Durham continue the season without the services of Robson when they travel to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday 3 November 2024.
