Damascion, UH’s Zamora and UCD’s Goldstein named Big West Conference Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week
Fabiola Zamora, Hawaii | Junior • Forward/Defender • Cupertino, CA.

  • Zamora was able to find the equalizer in the 68th minute to end the game at one. From there, the junior found the feet of teammate Nalani Damasion in the 83rd minute to record a stunning assist for UH’s game-clinching victory.

  • With the win over UCSB, Hawai’i earned its first Big West regular-season championship in program history. The Rainbow Wahine will host the upcoming 2024 Big West Women’s Soccer Championship as its top seed during the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 7 at a TBA start time.

Defensive Player of the Week
Caeley Goldstein, UC Santa Barbara | Redshirt senior • Goalie • Half Moon Day, CA.

  • 8137Kaylee Goldstein provided back-to-back clean sheets to help UC Davis earn its fourth and fifth Big West wins of the year to earn The Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. This is the third weekly honor of Goldstein’s career, but the first of 2024 (August 22, 2022 | August 21, 2023).

  • The Half Moon Bay, Calif., native posted double-digit saves (10) for the second time this season against UCSB. In Cal Poly’s next game, the goaltender stopped seven shots and recorded the seventh shutout of the season for the Aggies.

Freshman of the Week
Nalani Damasion, Hawaii | Freshman • Linebacker • Rocklin, CA.

  • 25388For a record fifth time in Big West history, Nalani Damasion has been named The Big West Freshman of the Week after another clutch performance. (August 19, September 16, September 23, October 21).

  • The pride of Rocklin, Calif. picked up another win, this time an 83rd-minute dagger at UC Santa Barbara, 2-1. No other freshman in the nation has tallied more than five points in a game, while five of Damacion’s seven total scores have come in the second half (Four in the final 10 minutes.).

  • Overall, the freshman is now fourth in UH ​​program history in games won with just 18 games played in his career and has now tied another program best for most GWs in a season (5). Hawai’i won the 2024 Big West Women’s Soccer regular season championship and will host the upcoming championship as the No. 1 seed, beginning with the semifinals scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7 at a TBA start time.
