Megyn Kelly ripped the former president of Donald Trump A campaign rally at Madison Square Garden on Monday after making headlines for a series of offensive jokes told by the speaker Tony Hinchcliffe.
“I watched all of Trump’s remarks, from beginning to end, and he did a great job,” Kelly said on his SiriusXM show, before adding that “Trump was not well served by the people around him.”
She continued:
It wasn’t a Nazi rally, it’s all bullshit. But I’m telling you, even for me, and I voted for Donald Trump last week, it was too brotherly. ok it was. You’re trying to win an election where you’re bleeding voters. Maybe when you’re performing in front of hundreds—at least thousands—in Madison Square Garden, you tone down the frat talk a little so you don’t alienate the women in middle America who are already on the fence about Republicans.
Don’t they have women advising their campaign? Isn’t there a real woman sitting backstage coming up with the guest lineup and saying, “Let’s just talk to the guys who are going to talk about [how] this is not the bar, this is not their living room, this is a campaign. It’s politics”? We’re trying to choose it. We don’t need to rally the base or guys anymore, and it’s not helpful even if we want to rally the base or guys to go full colorless, insulting different racial groups, etc.
I get it Trust me, nothing that was said offended me. I can hardly take offense, but I understand how that works, especially with women, and it was a crappy choice. They recount what an amazing Trump celebration it was, exciting, well-attended and extremely enthusiastic, and they got a big bruised eye.
Kelly concluded: “This is not about the crazy media, which of course did what the crazy media is going to do. It’s about giving the crazy media all these headlines that undermine the main man, Donald Trump, who did exactly what he needed to do last night. It happened to you! We hope you do better in the last week of the campaign. That’s my opinion.”
Hinchcliffe — whose speech was reportedly not vetted by the Trump campaign — made a number of offensive jokes at the Trump rally. During his controversial speech, Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating pile of garbage,” joked about black people carving watermelons, and said Latinos “like to make babies” so they can “go inside, just like they did in our country’.
