Police on Monday identified a bicyclist who was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle late Sunday in south Lubbock.
The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the collision Sunday night after officers were called to 103rd Street and Indiana Avenue at 9:37 p.m. for a report of a collision with injuries. In the initial investigation, it appears that a car driven by 24-year-old Juan Valin was traveling northbound in the 10200 block of Indiana Avenue. Charles Clay, a bicyclist, was also traveling north in the 10200 block of Indiana Avenue. Valin’s vehicle collided with Clay’s bicycle. Clay was transported to University Medical Center by EMS with serious injuries. Other factors that contributed to the crash are unclear as the investigation continues.
