PHOENIX (AZ Family) — If you’ll be in the West Valley on Monday night when the Arizona Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Chargers, here’s what to expect in terms of weather and traffic.
As expected, the Cards’ first Monday Night Football game of the season will bring extra traffic to the West Valley, and Glendale police say it’s a good idea to lock down your travel plans ahead of time. Even if you’re not going to the game, keep this in mind if you live or work near State Farm Stadium.
“It’s going to be very busy,” Sgt. Brian Hoskin said. “You want to make sure you plan ahead.”
Sergeant Hoskin says Loop 101 will be congested in both directions all the way back to McDowell, with play times close to rush hour traffic.
Planning a tailgate? Arrive early to beat the traffic. The stadium’s car parks will open at 2pm, four hours before kick-off.
But what about the weather?
Monday will be slightly warmer than last weekend. That being said, fans of the Cardinals game are in for a great afternoon and evening!
At State Farm Stadium, expect mid to upper 80s by mid-afternoon. That’s pretty close to normal for this time of year.
While the heat won’t be unbearable, having some shade nearby might not be a bad thing if you plan to spend most of the afternoon outside.
Temperatures will drop to 80 degrees around kickoff at 6:00 p.m., and then to 70 degrees by the time the game is over.
Should be very comfortable walking back to the car after hopefully a Cardinals win against LA!
