Kieran Lindsay pleaded not guilty to any charge of murder when he appeared for a private plea hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, October 28.
The 19-year-old was taken for further examination and remanded in custody.
Lindsay is now the second person to appear in court charged with murder amid ongoing inquiries by Police Scotland.
On Wednesday, October 23, Key O’Connor also did not enter a plea when he appeared in private at Ayrshire Crown Court.
The 26-year-old’s appearance came after police confirmed a man had been arrested the previous day.
Lindsay, described as a resident of North Ayrshire, will be back in court in the coming days.
His appearance in the dock comes after Police Scotland confirmed on Friday October 25 that a teenager had been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Taylor’s death.
Another man, aged 53, was also arrested that day, but he was later released pending further inquiries – with the investigation still ongoing.
Mr Taylor, 44, was found with serious injuries outside his home on Pollock Crescent at around 1.55pm on Friday 18 October. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The day after his death, following a post-mortem, police confirmed they were investigating a homicide – saying they believed the incident was a “targeted attack”.
As well as a charge of murder, O’Connor – whose general address is also given as being in North Ayrshire – also faces a further charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
He has also been remanded in custody pending a court appearance in the coming days.
Police Scotland are still appealing for anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.
A spokesman for the force said: “Detectives have set up a website which gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the major investigation team, which can be submitted anonymously.”
The portal is available at:
They added: “Alternatively, anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1878 of 18 October 2024.”
