’28 Years Later’ Plot Revealed – ScreenCrush

Ralph Fiennes revealed the first two parts of 28 years later trilogies were filmed.

The 61-year-old actor stars as a doctor in the upcoming zombie apocalypse film – which is itself a sequel to Danny Boyle’s 2002 film. 28 days later and that of Juan Carlos Fresnadio 28 weeks later in 2007 — and now Fiennes has revealed that the first two films have already wrapped production.

Speaking to IndieWire, he said, “It’s three movies, two of which have been shot.”

The Harry Potter star detailed the plot of the next film, which sees director/writer duo Danny Boyle and Alex Garland return to the series after a hiatus 28 weeks later.

Fiennes said: “Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid people with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it focuses on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother… He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English countryside. But of course, around them hide in forests and hills and forests are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is someone we might think would be weird and strange, but is actually a force for good.

Like Boyle and Garland, 28 days later star Cillian Murphy has been confirmed to be returning for the upcoming film in a “surprise” appearance and will not be part of the main cast.

28 years laterwhich is slated for a June 2025 release, will also star Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jack O’Connell, although details about the trio’s characters are being kept under wraps.

The next sequel, which is titled 28 Years Later, Part II: The Bone Templemust be governed by Candyman directed by Nia DaCosta with Garland and Boyle writing the screenplay.
