Rain on Halloween? Here’s what you need to know about the trick-or-treating forecast, other information. – The lawyer

Some trick-or-treaters may see rain on Halloween night Thursday in Baton Rouge. Still, forecasters don’t predict it will be a widespread event, a National Weather Service meteorologist said.

There’s a better than 50 percent chance of rain moving into Baton Rouge from the northwest late afternoon into Halloween night, Dave Schlothauer said Monday.

The rain time falls near East Baton Rouge Parish’s official hours of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

But there’s reason to hope for continued Halloween fun, at least for some.

“Chances for rain decrease as the evening progresses,” Schlothauer said. “The hard part is knowing exactly where it’s going to rain, and we don’t have that.”

There is also a small chance of lightning and thunderstorms, but not severe weather, he said.

“If you’re outside, be aware of lightning around,” he said.

Trick-or-treaters may remember the adage, “When lightning strikes, go indoors,” Schlothauer said.

Official trick-or-treating hours in Ascension and Livingston Parishes are also 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursdays. In Livingston Parish, municipalities may have their own trick or treat hours.
