The ceremony took place on Friday 25 October at the Redburn Community Center in Irvine and celebrated the staff, teams and individuals who deliver health and social services in North Ayrshire.
The Promoting Wellbeing Together event also recognized the work of volunteers, community organizations and charities that support people’s wellbeing.
Councilor Margaret Johnson, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care at North Ayrshire Council, said: “Our Promoting Wellbeing Together event really shone a light on some of the fantastic work that is being done across North Ayrshire to promote wellbeing and our communities. such as the work that takes place within teams and organizations to support staff wellbeing.
“The standard of submissions was incredibly high again this year, with over 200 nominations received, making the judging panel’s job extremely difficult.
“Well done to everyone who was nominated this year and a massive congratulations to our finalists and winners.
“Your hard work and dedication makes such a difference and doesn’t go unnoticed, so thank you for all you do.”
The awards began with the Everyday Wellbeing Hero Award presented by Joyce White, Vice Chair of the North Ayrshire Joint Integration Board.
This was awarded to Dalia Alsawi, Arabic Bilingual Liaison Officer, for her passionate approach to supporting refugees in North Ayrshire.
The ‘No1 Wellbeing Community Superhero’ award was presented to Janie Stewart of MECOPP, Community Health Worker for the Gypsy Traveler community.
Through her work, she has started positive wellness conversations in her community, helping to reduce the stigma often associated with mental health.
CHAP’s Debbie Alexander was honored with the Inspirational Leadership in Wellbeing Award.
She was described as an outstanding leader who has transformed the culture of the organization by focusing on wellbeing, inclusion and growth.
The Administration Wellbeing Star Award was won by Lynn Ferguson of NAHSCP.
She was recognized for leading her team to support the implementation of welfare proposals.
The Wellbeing Volunteer Award was presented to Liz Sullivan from Redburn Breakfast Club, who has been supporting local young people and families for over five years.
The Partnership Team Champions Award was given to the North Ayrshire Community Liaison Office.
This service is available to all North Ayrshire residents through GP practices, with community workers taking a holistic approach to achieving positive wellbeing outcomes.
The Administrative Team Welfare Stars Award went to NAHSCP’s Business Support Team.
They were recognized for coordinating and organizing a wide range of wellbeing opportunities for staff and partners.
The Volunteer Team Champions Award was won by Fullarton ConneXions Community Cafe volunteers who provide vital support to paid cafe staff.
Autism Support Ayrshire has been named ‘Superhero Community Wellbeing Organisation’ for providing free and confidential advice, guidance and support to families and individuals affected by autism in Ayrshire.
