Steak and Gruyère flatbread at Bin 77 bistro and side bar
The first thing I thought when I walked into Bin 77 was that something smelled good. The second thing: I wish I had a reservation. My 7:30pm dinner turned into 9:15pm with the line in front of me, but the steak and Gruyere mash more than made up for it.
The seared tenderloin goes perfectly with the cheese and arugula so it doesn’t overdo it, and the variety of flavors on the plate allows you to enjoy every bite. It’s like the best part of eating pizza with the vibe of a slightly elevated restaurant with live music. It was worth the wait.

Apple Pie and Fritters at Delish Donuts
What’s better than a fresh box of donuts and cookies on a fall weekend morning at camp? Delish Donuts in Pierre Part, a small community in the heart of the Atchafalaya Basin, is the go-to spot for hot, fluffy treats while enjoying the best of Acadiana’s abundant natural beauty.
Cakes stand out in this place. They come wrapped in a soft, buttery brioche that holds its shape well, with a hint of salt to balance the sweet dough and harmonize with the spicy sausage and jalapeño filling.
And I always have a hard time not getting a plain glazed donut, but I was so happy to try the apple fritter on this visit. It was fried to perfection, fluffy and slightly tart on the inside with perfectly crispy edges.

Chicken tenders and fries at ZeeZee’s
Not to be dramatic, but these were the best chicken tenders and fries I’ve had in a while. Sometimes you just have to go back to the basics for nutrition. This hit the spot.
First the fries. They were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside with just enough spice to take it to the next level. The homemade ranch didn’t hurt either. Next, the chicken fingers. Look at that fry job, with all the crispy bits — 10 out of 10. I could tell they were fresh and I even had enough for leftovers.
