Ogden – As information newsletters report the dismissal of thousands of federal workers across the country, a relatively large contingent in northern Utah is probably paying a lot of attention.
Weber County has a particularly strong concentration of IRS workers, and Reuters announced on Friday that the Federal Agency is preparing to fire “thousands” from its employees of the staff management order. They are reported among relatively new rents, as test employees who do not yet have complete protection in the workplace, the news agency said. Wider, USA Today reports thousands of dismissals to test workers in multiple agencies on Friday.
However, the cut of jobs pushed by President Donald Trump when he moves to reduce the size of the federal government, however, however, northern jute, more substantially, can be particularly struck. The Congress Research Service shows that the first county, represented by the American reputation, Blake Moore, a Republican, has one of the highest concentrations of federal civilian workers in the country.
The area, where approximately 5.92% of all workers are federal civil servants, ranks 25th in the US and Washington Congress List, Colombia County, according to a share of workers hired by the US government. This 5.92% digit represents approximately 26 555 workers. The numbers in the report of the Congress Research Service from last December – the US Bureau of the US Bureau for 2023 – do not include military officials.
At the head of the list, perhaps surprisingly, was Washington, Colombia County, where 18.49% of civilian workers were hired by the Federal Government, followed by several congressional regions in Maryland and Virginia, which inhabit the US capital. In fact, outside Washington, Colombia, Maryland and Virginia, the 1st district of Utah has the 13th highest concentration of federal workers, bound by Ohio’s 10th district.
Moore was not available immediately for comment, but he said in his composite newsletter, sent on Monday, February 11, that he had heard from a contingent of federal officials at a recent college gathering of the mayoralty, which he held at Coyville.
“My great absorption was that there was a lot of disappointment about rhetoric and federal work force,” he writes. “The first area has one of the largest number of federal workers in the country and this is something that I appreciate and appreciate.”
According to the Utah Department of Workforce, the US Department of Finance, which runs IRS, has hired 7,000 to 9,999 workers in Weber County since 2023, making it the largest employer in the county. Weber County sits entirely within the 1st district.
In the Davis County, the Labor Ministry of Labor Services said the US Department of Defense used between 10,000 and 14,999, although it did not specify whether it included military officials. Part of Davis County, including Hill’s Air Force Base, sits in the 1st district, and part sits in the 2nd district.
As Trump presses to reduce the federal workforce in an attempt to reduce government waste and expenses, Moore said in his newsletter that of course the moods that were apparently checked at the Caiswil meeting.
“I also provided a context of why it is necessary to study every corner of the budget,” writes Moore, who as a legislator is a priority for the reduction of the federal deficit. “And although this is a period of anger and even a dispute, we will come out of it for better.”
Moore serves as a co -chair of the delivery of exceptional government efficiency or a dog, a Coach in the US House. The authority is to work with the Ministry of Government Efficiency of Trump, led by businessman Elon Musk, in reducing federal costs and federal workforce. He referred to this role in his newsletter.
“My commitment to this, either through Doge Caucus, or for the regular budget loan process, is to find waste while maintaining the mission and strengthening of the staff. Many key functional areas are highly insufficient, with air traffic controllers and I want the ingredients of the 1st area to know that I avoid rhetoric and focus on results, “Moore writes.
A local representative from one of the unions representing IRS workers in Weber County, the National Union of Finance Employees, did not respond to a request on Friday, looking for a comment. However, the organization of labor partnered with several other unions in the federal case against Trump and its administration on Wednesday to stop the federal government from the dismissal of test workers and others.
“All these commandments are further proof that this administration is motivated not by the efficiency but by the cruelty and complete disregard for the government services that will be lost,” Nteu President Doreen Greenwald said in a statement.
