Today’s forecast:
A strong trough of low pressure moving up the West Coast early this week will bring several days of blustery and unsettled weather to southern Colorado. First comes the wind, with wind gusts of 25-35 mph today across the I-25 corridor and eastern plains. Due to the downwind and dry air, a red flag warning has been issued from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
With the wind down, the start of the week will be unseasonably warm. Highs in the plains will warm to the 70s and 80s this afternoon, with 50s and 60s for our mountain valleys.
Colorado Springs Forecast: High: 78; Low: 47. Warm and muggy Monday, with peak gusts this afternoon around 30 mph. A red flag warning will be in effect today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Forecast for Canon City: high: 78; Low: 50. While we don’t expect any Red Flag warnings today in Fremont County due to higher relative humidity, we do expect a warm and blustery start to the week, with peak gusts up to around 30 mph.
Forecast for Woodland Park: high: 67; Low: 39. A windy and mild start to the work week in Teller County, with dry skies Monday and peak winds gusting to 35 mph.
Tri-Lakes Forecast: high: the 70s; Low: The 40s. Warm and windy, with Red Flag warnings in place today from 11am to 6pm.
Plains Forecast: high: 70s/80s; Low: 40s/50s. Red Flag Warning conditions will be in place both today and tomorrow in the High Plains. Today’s gusts will be around 35 mph, with gusts around 60 mph on Tuesday.
Forecast for Walsenburg and Trinidad: high: the 70s; Low: 40s/50s. A mild and breezy morning will give way to a warm and breezy afternoon, with Red Flag warnings in effect from 11am to 6pm today.
Mountain Forecast: High: the 50s; Low: 20s/30s. Breezy during the day, with gusts around 40 mph. Increasing clouds tonight will bring snow to some of our state’s mountain ranges, with the heaviest snow tonight benefiting the San Juans and La Garitas.
Extended Outlook Outlook:
A further increase in winds is expected on Tuesday, prompting another round of Red Flag warnings. Gusts in the Pikes Peak area are expected to range between 40-50 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph in the eastern plains and south I-25 corridor. Moisture will increase following a cold front late Tuesday night, with the potential for rain and snow showers Wednesday. Whatever falls in the Springs isn’t likely to accumulate, but areas around Palmer Divide and Teller County could see about 2″ of snow.
Our Wednesday high will only warm to the mid-40s in Colorado Springs, with our first freeze of the year following Wednesday night with our low in the mid-20s. Halloween looks dry and nice, with mid-50s for daytime highs. Halloween night will be chilly for trick-or-treating in Southern Colorado, so consider a layer over or under your costume this year.
