Whether you’re a high school student looking to complete your volunteer hours or someone looking to stay busy, there’s something for everyone at the second annual Durham Volunteer Fair.
It’s happening on Wednesday, November 13th at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex in Bowmanville at 2440 Durham Regional Highway 2 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Delivered by Community Care Durham and Durham Region Association for Voluntary Administration (DRAVA). It’s free and open to people of all ages.
There will be over 40 organizations looking for volunteers, including Community Care Durham, Community Living, Alzheimer Society of Durham Region and Ontario Shores Center for Mental Health Sciences. To see the full list, click here.
James Melosh, chief executive of Community Care Durham, says all community groups benefit from the help of volunteers.
“They help community organizations expand their social impact by creating vital connections with clients and families that help them maximize their independence, safety and well-being,” Melosh said. “I can’t stress enough how important their contributions are to making Durham Region a great place to live and grow.”
Karina Clendening, president of DRAVA expressed the importance of organizing a volunteer fair.
“The second annual Durham Region Volunteer Fair is an important opportunity for us to come together to build community, strengthen services and showcase the wide variety of volunteer positions and organizations doing amazing work in Durham Region,” Clendening said. “We welcome community members to come out and explore the many ways volunteering can enrich your life and our region!”
