Eight companies have been charged with federal crimes.
The Justice Department announced charges against eight China-based chemical companies and eight employees. Federal criminal charges include money laundering and attempted distribution of synthetic opioids and precursor chemicals that are used to make fentanyl.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said: “The global fentanyl supply chain that ends in the deaths of Americans often begins with chemical companies based in China. To disrupt this critical link in the fentanyl supply chain, the Department of Justice is aggressively investigating and prosecuting these companies. We will continue to target every organization and individual that fuels the deadly drug trade.
Administrator Ann Milgram of the Drug Enforcement Administration said, “For the third time in a year, DEA investigations have led to the indictment of chemical companies and individuals in China who we allege are supplying chemicals to the cartels to make the deadly fentanyl . While they may go to great lengths to try to avoid our detection, the DEA will use every tool and power at our disposal to save American lives.
As the Lord leads, pray with us…
- For Attorney General Garland to be reasonable while leading the Department of Justice.
- For Administrator Milgram to be guided by God as she leads the DEA.
- For federal law enforcement officials as they seek to prevent fentanyl components from entering the nation.
