Rosalie S. Buonome – The Daily Gazette

She was born in Amsterdam, New York on September 4, 1934, the daughter of the late Michael Wanczesitz and Frances (Wantsewicz) DiCaprio. She grew up in Amsterdam and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, former class of 1952, where she developed many lifelong friendships.

Rosalie has had a long career in the insurance industry, primarily with the Hequembourg Insurance Agency on Wall St. in Schenectady and eventually with her heirs. She was also an integral part of two family owned and operated businesses, The VIP Lounge and Bel Aire Amusement Distributors. In retirement, Rosalie enjoyed many friendships and volunteered in Scotland at Glen Warden Primary School helping children learn to read. She was loved by students and teachers alike.

Rosalie is survived by her son Steven M. Buonome (Nancy Church) of Saratoga Springs, NY, dear sister Joyce Knapik of Hagaman, NY, as well as many adoring nieces and nephews here locally and in Florida, California, Washington and Louisiana. She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen J. Buonome, her parents and brothers, Michael Vantsevich, Chester Vantsevich and Edwin Vantsevich.

Rosalie’s family would like to acknowledge her immediate family, the staff and other residents of Erie Crossing of Glendale Nursing Home. She was truly blessed to be cared for and loved by the dedicated staff and neighbors of her final home. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful people who helped Rosalie at home before Glendale, especially Julie, Mena and Sue.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 12 noon at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St., Schenectady, NY with the Rev. Richard Carlino presiding. Calling hours will be held Wednesday prior to the funeral from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton St., Schenectady, NY 12305 or to the Roman Catholic Church of St. Anthony, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12305.
