First, a quick background: I recently commented on an article about Google Glass that contained false information, and in response to my explanation of how Glass really works, my friend Anita Campbell said “…many of the actions you mention about Glass as signs that images are being recorded are ones that only connoisseurs would likely recognize.”
Her point was good and true: if you know how Google Glass works, you’re the connoisseur.
Google knows this, too, and that’s why it’s launching a Google Glass road show next week in Durham, North Carolina. The company announced the event this afternoon on Google+.
Want to try Glass? Damn you’re doing it right. Just kidding… but seriously, if you want, we’ll start shipping Glass to cities across the US so you can give it a spin. You’ll be able to try out Glass, ask questions, and chat with the Glass team in person. We kick off in Durham, North Carolina on October 5th and will hit the road hitting other cities after that. Stay tuned here on G+ and we’ll let you know where we go next.
There is a registration page for anyone who wants to attend the Glass Durham event, which is all day from 10am to 5pm.
There is no information on where future events will be held. And yes, I took the URL of the RSVP page — googleglassdurham.splashthat.com — and I replaced “Durham” with about 20 other city names, but none worked. Rats.
