In the heart of Birmingham’s business district, a major refurbishment is underway to revitalize two iconic office buildings. This project, which targets 2 Colmore Square and Cannon House, intends to create a new landmark destination called ‘Multistory’. Located on The Priory Queensway, the buildings will be rebranded to include a significant expansion of high-quality office and shared spaces.

The project plans to introduce 75,000 sq ft of Class A office space recognized for its contemporary design and superior functionality. Additionally, 15,000 sq. ft. of tenant amenities are being developed, featuring state-of-the-art facilities designed to support modern business operations.

Significant improvements are planned for the Colmore Square entrance, including a revamped reception area with direct access to quiet work areas. These areas aim to provide an environment conducive to focused work, meeting the changing needs of today’s workforce.

A second reception, accessible from the Old Square, will be reimagined as a multifunctional space. It will feature casual seating and provide dynamic meeting rooms, reflecting the shift to a more collaborative and integrated work environment.

The development emphasizes accessibility and sustainability with a transport hub located at the basement of Steelhouse Lane. This facility will include charging stations for electric vehicles, security measures for 286 bicycles and changing rooms. A substantial parking space of 70 cars will be provided to complement the needs of the building’s occupants.

Retail and entertainment spaces covering 27,000 sq ft will be located on the ground and lower levels. These areas, predominantly fronting The Priory Queensway, are expected to improve the local economy and attract a variety of tenants. The previous businesses in these units consisted of a TSB branch and sporting goods retailers.

The office refurbishment, targeted for completion in the first quarter of next year, embodies a strategic effort to revitalize Birmingham city center with sophisticated, multi-faceted workspace. This initiative is poised to attract countless businesses looking for modern facilities.

The transformation of Birmingham’s ‘Multistory’ office blocks represents a significant investment in the city’s retail landscape, promising to deliver a state-of-the-art working and social environment.
