A weekend of exciting league and cup action for Ayrshire’s amateur teams – Irvine Times

There were a lot of goals and a lot of tight games throughout the region.

In the Premier League, Annbank were the big winners, beating Stewarton United 9-0 at home.

Elsewhere, Knockentiber beat Dirrans 1-0 while Troon Dundonald were beaten at home by Shortlees.

Annbank and Shortlees remain in the top two places in the division, while Dirrans and Stewarton sit precariously near the bottom.

In Division 1 there were 4-2 home wins for Belfield and Galston, beating Kilmarnock AFC and Largs Thistle respectively.

Crosshill took the three points with a narrow 3-2 away win against Black.

Belfield and Galston lead the division with Black still looking for their first point of the season.

In Division 2 Ardrossan Winton Rovers and Darwell Victoria played out a fascinating 3-3 draw.

Elsewhere there were wins for Bothan Victoria and Minishant, while Onthank drew 1-1 with Kilwinning.

Bothan Vics are the early pacesetters in the division and are yet to drop points this season.

It was a heavy 7-0 defeat for Dean Thistle away to Giffnock North in the second round of the West of Scotland Cup.

It was also a defeat for West Kilbride, who were beaten on penalties by Milton U21s.

In the Ayrshire Challenge Cup there were wins for Mauchline and Glenburn, over Forehill and Whitletts Victoria.

Crosshouse Waverley recorded the biggest win of the round, beating Troon Town 6-0 away.

In the James Scott Trophy, Irvine Thistle and New Farm Loch progressed after home wins over Beith and Kilbride Thistle.

Finally, Dailly beat Drongan 3-1 away in the second round of the GD Heating and Plumbing Trophy.
