The Presidential Award for Early Career for Scientists and Engineers recognizes researchers to demonstrate exclusive leadership at the beginning of their career in research.

Boise, Idaho – Professor of Boise State University of Boise Ellin Enderlin and Professor of Material and Engineering David Estrada were recognized last month for their work with NASA.

They are the first two BSU teachers to be recognized as the Presidential Award for Early Career for Scientists and Engineers (Pecase).

Enderlin’s work focuses on the remote collection of glacier structures and the depths of mountain snow using satellites and GPS.

She said she did not make a grand scientific discovery, but learns and grows our knowledge of one piece at once.

“I was really surprised because you know, I have the feeling that I am pushed into science, as scientists do. As you usually don’t feel as if I have done this huge, massive progress. It’s just gradual, and it’s always, and it’s always, What you think about it. On the puzzle or pie, or as you want to think about it and make this little, tiny advance, “she said.

Estrada’s work centers around the production of electronics and materials programs for use in space at the International Space Station.

He said recognition is a sign of high achievements of Boise State as well.

“I think to be one of the first in Boise State just shows the university’s maturation. I’m really proud, as a BSU graduate, of growth we have had in research and to be able to contribute to this level of progress of national research priorities.

In a news message, Boise State President Dr. Marlene Tromp said the university is proud of Enderlin and Pirestrary and their work.

“This recognition of Ellin Enderlin and Dave Strasta is a testament to their incomparable dedication to the improvement of science, the empowerment of students and the performance of deep positive impacts in Boise State and beyond,” Tromp said.

Pecase’s honor was created during the President Clinton administration to show scientists and engineers who demonstrate exclusively leadership at the beginning of their research career.

Boise State has more than this honor and the work of Enderlin and the variety.
