Durham roundup: Sun Devils open Nov. 5 against Idaho State after Duke exhibition – Arizona State University Athletics – Sun Devil Athletics

They already knew it, but the Sun Devil men’s basketball team got to see just how much of a legend its head coach is when ASU visited Cameron on Sunday night for a charity exhibition.

Coach Hurley – with two NCAA titles, the 1992 Final Four Most Outstanding Player and an NCAA record 1,076 career assists – was honored in the Brotherhood Run tilt as the Blue Devils topped ASU xx-xx.

Bashir Jihad led ASU with 11 off the bench as a freshman Jaden Quintans there were 11.

Duke was 2-of-11 from the three-point stripe in the first half, but heated up in the second to build a 37-21 halftime lead.

The Sun Devils open on Tuesday, November 5 against Idaho State at 7:00 PM on ESPN+.

Bobby Hurley was inducted into the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011 and is part of a select group to have his jersey retired at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The number 11 jersey was hung by Duke on February 28, 1993. While a Blue Devil, he broke the NCAA men’s basketball record for career assists with 1,076 and led the Blue Devils to a four-year record of 119-26 ( .821) with three Final Four appearances and back-to-back national championships in 1991 and 1992. In addition to his record assists, he was named the 1992 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player in addition to being two-time All-American selection (1992, 1993). He finished his illustrious Duke career with 1,731 points, 306 rebounds and 202 steals from 1989-93.
