The Health Heritage Starts Effective Black Parental Program – Recinct Reporter Group

This February, in honor of the month of black history, Healthy Heritage, has launched the effective black parenting program (EBPP), a nationally accredited program designed to enable parents with culturally affirming tools for raising confident, successful black children.

Developed by the Center for Improvement of Child Care (CICC), the effective black parenting program is the first program for building skills for parents that respects and honors the unique history and traditions of African descent people and teaches skills in a way that is a way that is as it is culturally sensitive and culturally affirming. Over the last 30 years, this program has trained thousands of parents in communities across the country. A healthy heritage was selected as a partner based in the Chief of Schools in San Bernardino County to offer this proven program to families in San Bernardino County, without the cost of participants.

EBPP is a 15-session series facilitated by licensed mental health therapists. It enables families with practical tools to promote strong, healthy relationships and nourish the next generation of black leaders. The healthy heritage will offer the seminars both personally and online through Zoom, with classes beginning in February. These sessions are free of charge and are open to parents and care, residing in San Bernardino County.

“The effective black parenting program is a holiday for the Black Family, both traditionally and unconventional. The program honors our resilience, culture and heritage and really enables parents to raise successful black children, “says Phyllis Clark, founder and CEO of Healthy Heritage. “As we honor the history of the black, we also have the opportunity to create a story and want the black children and families of San Bernardino County to build strong foundations, to perceive their potential for success and to lead a healthy, thriving life.”
