Virginia Aquarium hosts a changing exhibit with Pixar Inside Out

This changing exhibit is filled with interactive experiences to help guests understand the important role that emotions, memory and imagination play in our daily lives. Manual and digital experiences focus on the five emotions presented in the award -winning movie: joy, sadness, anger, disgust and fear. Through exhibits, children and families learn to recognize emotions and explore how we express and manage our emotions.

Discoveries within this immersive exhibit for all ages:

  • Enter the plant to explore the scope and intensity of the emotions of the control panel.
  • Engage in feelings and reactions in the mirrors of emotions.
  • Recall the feelings for an important memory by creating a glowing sphere of memory.
  • Create an imaginary story and run it in Dream Productions.
  • Control and maintain the train of thought on the way.
  • Build and learn how emotions work with emotional blocks.

The emotions of playing with Pixar’s Inside Out will be open and included in the Aquarium Admission by May 4, 2025. Members can enjoy an outstanding first look at the January 18th exhibit.

The emotions in the game are the first interactive exhibit based on the hit animation function of Disney and Pixar “Inside Out”. The exhibition was developed by the Pittsburg Children’s Museum in collaboration with the Pixar Animation Studios.

For “Inside Out”: Pixar’s hit cartoon “Inside Out” is the story of 11-year-old Riley, which, like all of us, is guided by her emotions-joy, fear, anger, disgust and sadness. Emotions live in the plant, the control center in Riley’s mind, where they help to advise it during everyday life. Riley and her emotions are struggling to adapt to a new life in San Francisco as a joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion is trying to keep things positive. Inside Out was released in 2015.

For the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum: The Pittsburgh Children’s Museum is a place that provides innovative and inclusive museum experiences that inspire kindness, joy, creativity and curiosity for all students. Our imaginary, open exhibits and programs give families the opportunity to explore topics such as art, doing and socio-emotional training in ways that are authentic, meaningful and most of all fun! The museum is open every day, from 10:00 – 17:00.
