Do you know that dental breakdown is the most common chronic childhood in the United States?

February is a national month for dental health of children, and the first 5 San Bernardino partnered with the SBC SBC SBC program of San Bernardino County to help families make dental care for young children.

The “Small Teeth, Great Responsibility” campaign launched on January 30 at Hawthorno Primary School in Ontario, where 48 preschool children enjoy free dental screenings, toothpick tips and a surprising visit from Potter. The annual campaign encourages parents and care of young children to start good dental habits early because healthy baby teeth form healthy teeth for adults. This means establishing daily brushing procedures, avoiding sugary drinks and taking your baby with the dentist until their first birthday or first tooth.

“It is easy to ignore the importance of our baby’s baby teeth and let us admit, make your young child brush your teeth can be a struggle that we can all connect with,” said the first 5 CEO of San Bernardino Karen Scott. “That’s why we partner with Smile SBC every year to help families and children make dental care before your baby has teeth!”

The statistics do not lie; More than 60 percent of kindergartens in San Bernardino County have survived tooth decay. The good news is that it is preventable. Regular brushing and flossing, healthy eating and routine dental visits make a big difference.

NBC 4 Los Angeles joined the fun at Hottarn Primary School. To watch the segment that was broadcast five times, presenting the event with a 3-year visit to the Bit.ly/41451GT school.

A special video to end events can be viewed on bit.ly/4huqrqw, including interviews with the first 5 San Bernardino, Smile SBC and Hawthorne elementary school.
