LVMPD employees to vote for new shifts to reduce the death of traffic, DUI, accidents – FOX 5 Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) -To 100 out of 100 police officers in the Las Vegas Police Department may be voting soon to move away from four 10-hour shifts a week, to 12-hour shifts to help keep the public safer S The police union management says this will allow more traffic staff to be seen on the street and continue after problem drivers.

“Please find out they are there, not with an ax to grind the public. It’s really just that you stop scooping people from the road sails who lose their lives, “said Steve Gramas, President of the Las Vegas Police Protection Association.

Traffic employees are heard this week about the measure and can vote this week or early next week to change shifts. Grammas says offices can be directed on weekends between 10pm and 2am to deal with bad drivers.

“These young children get out of the clubs and drive and make bad decisions, remain behind the wheel of the cars. That I should imagine, this is probably a focal point, “Grammy said.

Police have not said where the public can see more traffic staff as part of the idea.

“I think there are just more bikes to be able to respond to some of these hot spots areas. Even when I was a young officer, Decatur and Sahara were a huge problematic intersection. So, I think, those, ”Grammy said.

Gramas says that instead of four 10-hour shifts a week, traffic staff will work three 12-hour shifts one week, and next week three 12-hour shifts and one eight-hour shift. He says this will not affect the details of the impact and perform details, fatal details or trainers.

“I hope people start to realize Uber, Lift, Cabs, whatever, a family member, use them. Use them so you don’t worry about losing your driver’s license, going to prison, paying fines, potentially harming someone. These are things that I really hope people really take away. If there is one thing I can tell you, stop drinking and driving. This is such a problem in our city, “Grammy said.

Gramites say that if more than 100 traffic staff approve of the measure, the public can see the change in the first or second week of March.
