LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock residents had an opportunity to discuss issues with their neighborhoods and work toward solutions Saturday.
Legal Aid of Northwest Texas hosted a community revitalization forum at the Patterson Library. It’s part of the agency’s community revitalization project.
The free event features more than a dozen speakers and experts leading discussions on neighbor rights, environmental justice and community development.
Adam Pirtle, a solicitor from Legal Aid, said this was to ensure residents were set up for success where they lived. This includes informing citizens what services are available, how good the schools are and what amenities are nearby.
“Are we near polluting facilities? Are we close to restaurants and businesses? It all makes a huge difference.” Pirtle said Legal Aid helps neighborhoods be what they want to be.
The agency also discussed the wide range of legal services it provides free of charge to low-income families.
