Alabama Breast Cancer Foundation Breast Cancer Challenge Increases Research Funding – Alabama News Lead

On Sunday, crowds gathered at Crestline Park in Birmingham for the Alabama Breast Cancer Foundation’s 7th Annual Breast Cancer 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

ABC 33/40 hosted the event as people of all ages and demographics came together to run for the cause.

The Alabama Breast Cancer Foundation raised $48,287.

BCRFA President and CEO, Beth Davis, was named our Alabama Champion for the week of October 11th.

The Alabama Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides funding for breast cancer research in the state of Alabama.

An average of 4,500 women are diagnosed in Alabama each year. Research funded by the BCRFA is helping to reduce mortality in people with breast cancer.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. In the US, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

There are currently more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the US

Early detection is the most effective plan of attack against breast cancer, as the NBCF says the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%.
