17 students from Baton Rouge High selected as candidates for prestigious national honor – WBRZ

Baton Rouge – nearly 20 students from Baton Rouge Magnet High School have been selected as presidential honor candidates.

The 17 students selected as candidates for a presidential scientist from the US Department of Education are:

– Ryan Feng
– Varun Gala
– Francis Kantrow
– Eva Lokridge
– Sofia Lokridge
– Benedict Michelle
– Emily Fan
– David Shen
– Michael Shi
– DHRUVA SONTI
– Tejasvi Tyagi
“Sydney Wheeler
“Ryan Wilson
– Spencer Yang

Baton Rouge High students are the most students nominated at a school in Louisiana for one of the best honors in high school in the country.

In 2024, two students from Baton Rouge – Katie Hu and Brandon Lynn of the Episocypal High School were declared US presidential scientists.

The program was established in 1964 to recognize some of the most famous graduates in the country and recognizes more than 161 students a year.

Since then, the program has been expanded to honor more than academic talent, now emphasizes creative and technical achievements.
