Lubbock, TX – Lubbock and surrounding areas will experience above normal temperatures today with highs reaching 84°F. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible across the far southern Texas Panhandle and parts of the Rolling Plains, especially during the morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, rain chances will shift from west to east throughout the day, mostly affecting areas like Plainview and Friona in the morning, with the potential for isolated storms to develop in Childress later this afternoon. Southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph will contribute to cool conditions, but skies will clear for most of the day, bringing plenty of sunshine to areas like Aspermont and Brownfield.
Despite the potential for rain, most areas will see dry conditions as showers remain isolated. Residents of affected regions are encouraged to be alert for changing weather conditions, especially during morning and afternoon travel. As warmer temperatures linger, the day is good for outdoor activities, but keep an eye out for possible storms.
