The Brittse Petrosen Service, which is fighting for VA Clinic in Fremont County – Canon City Daily Record

Plans for a future VA clinic in Fremont County continue to stay.

Justin Kurt, Regional Director and Coordinator of Information Office of the Congressman’s office Brittany Petrosen, gave an update on this project and others during the meeting of the Council of Commissioners of Fremont County on Tuesday.

“We are currently accepting the temperature with the new priority administration that comes from recently appointed Secretary of VA, Doug Collins,” Kurt said. “He has not yet announced to any of his people whether these projects will be placed in their budget request on the FY26 to the President.”

The Pettersen Office has applied for a visit with the new director of the Eastern Colorado Health System in Colorado and is waiting to be heard.

“I’ll update you as soon as I can get you,” Kurt said. “We are still fighting to happen.”

Petersen and her office also continue to monitor President Donald Trump’s indefinite pause on federal subsidies and loans.

Petersen’s provisions for improving the Water Infrastructure in Colorado, signed by law

“Although there have been numerous orders, concerns are extended from the service regarding the ignoring of court decisions in our nation laws,” Kurt said. “We will continue to watch this and our office will try to provide updates as soon as we learn more.”

The service of Petrosen would like to know from voters about any potential effects if the freezes continue.

Kurt also pointed out some of Petresen’s successes in 2024, including one affecting the John Griffin Regional Tank Project under the 2024 Water Resources Act, which was signed by former President Joe Biden in December. It allows up to $ 50 million in investments in water supplies and Fremont County infrastructure. The investment would help to restore John Griffin Regional Park with the Arkansas River ecosystem. Petersen works on this provision after hearing directly from the employees of Fremont County about their plans to create a reservoir in the John Griffin Regional Park and the need for federal assistance.

In January, the Chamber of US Representatives voted to cross the HR 471, the bilateral law to correct our forests, which included the afforestation and recovery Act, introduced by Pettersen and reporter Chuck Edwards of North Carolina.

This bill would help communities affected by natural disasters to restore and restore more resistant to future threats by afforestation and recovery efforts. It included a bilateral change to promote the use of emerging technologies such as low -earth orbit satellites to improve wild fire mitigation, early discovery and community protection.

“In principle, this is a satellite in the sky, checking for hot spots that are not visible because they do not yet delay enough smoke to be so visible,” Kurt said. “If the satellite can see them, we can make the assessment come out there more than we can observe the naked eye, then we can be ahead in our strategy to mitigate this fire.”
