PHOENIX (AZ Family) — Stolen guns, trucks and iPads have a north Phoenix neighborhood feeling uneasy.
Neighbors say almost every night this week, the same group of criminals have been coming back and breaking into cars.
Dashcam video shows a suspect breaking into a truck parked in Daniel Tracy’s driveway.
In the background, you can see an SUV in the middle of the road and two other people walking toward his neighbors’ driveways. Moments later, they make off in Tracy’s F-150.
“Invasion of privacy. You feel hurt,” Tracy said.
It happened in the middle of the night earlier this week near Happy Valley Road and North 39th Drive.
Tracy says his truck was found after being dumped about 15 minutes ago, but the transmission was damaged.
“They just think they’re untouchable. … It’s a scary thought,” Tracy said.
Turns out he’s not the only one this has happened to. Police are investigating at least three other carjackings in that community.
Over the past few days, several neighbors have posted home security videos on the Ring app that show what they say is a group of teenagers trying to break into cars.
The criminals hit homes near 35th and 43rd avenues from Pinnacle Peak Road to Happy Valley Road.
Police said at least three handguns were stolen.
“The videos show them carelessly walking around. So, it’s almost like they don’t fear the punishment, which I like. So that’s scary because at what point do they stop,” said Leandra Geddings.
Geddings says she woke up that day to find her car ransacked and every car door on her block wide open.
Now she’s teaming up with other neighbors to post flyers with photos of the thieves in hopes of helping police catch the person responsible.
“Someone knows who these kids are,” Geddings said.
