Firefighters are preparing for extreme conditions as the 5000HA Wilmington Scrub Fire continues to burn – Glam Adlaide

Firefighters, together with air support and fire agricultural units, continue to monitor a scrub fire near Wilmington, within the remarkable national park of the mountain, as increased fire weather is an increased risk of distribution. The area includes Melrose, Nectar Brook and Mambray Creek.

To date, approximately 5090 hectares are affected by the flame, which remains within the steep and challenging terrain at the borders of the national park. In the last 24 hours, the situation has remained stable, with the perimeter of fire over 60 km. In order to strengthen the control lines against today’s northern winds, an additional fire added at the southern border.

The Fire Service (CFS) advises the community south of the affected area to prepare, remaining vigilant and maintained updated through CFS Communications. The continuing efforts of ground crews and air operations have retained the fire within the park, with minor extensions on private property being immediately addressed or by natural repayment or active suppression.

The preparation made by the fire management teams took into account today’s increased risk of fire, by effective perimeter management and hot spots. However, the upcoming changes in the wind direction are expected to lead to smoke to Wilmington and the surrounding areas, which prompts the health council for residents to take the necessary precautions.

Wilmington residents can see a glitter from fire until it reaches the lawns. The crews will work on the fire as they grieve and patrol the area overnight, but if you are concerned, please call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

There is currently no direct threat to life or property; Authorities, however, call on continuous vigilance. CFS encourages residents to remain informed of local terms through their special web pages hosting both current updates and readiness tips in cfs.sa.gov.au/wilmington-fire.

The remarkable Mount National Park will remain closed until further notification.
