Dawn Staley offers South Carolina Fatigue in Women’s Basketball After Loss of Texas – Sports Illustrated

South Carolina’s women’s basketball team lost the second time this season on February 9, when they were defeated by Texas Longhorm.

This loss is nothing that Gamecocks Dawn Staley’s chief trainer, nor anyone else in the program, should hang heads. Longhorns are one of the best teams in the country, especially when playing on their home court.

South Carolina blew up Texas on her native court earlier this season. However, when AP rankings were launched on February 10, Texas jumped to # 3 in the ranking, while South Carolina fell in two places to # 4.

Dawn Staley spoke during an episode of February 11 at Carolina Calls showWhich is a weekly talk show that is sponsored and broadcast through the University of South Carolina. At one point, Staley seemed to show some dissatisfaction how the female basketball world reacted to the loss of her team.

“Every time we lose, it picks up everyone else. When we win, it’s nominal for the course. It’s part of it. As I think with it,” Staley said in the show, for the X post by the state newspaper reporter Michael Sales.

It is unclear what exactly Staley was about when she said “South Carolina Fatigue.” But it seems that she is hinting at the NCAAW community, which is overdue every time her team stumbles because they have been at the top so long, which would have assumed that it was not set for their new AP ranking.

No matter where Gamecocks are ranked at the moment, they are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the country and will be loved to win the NCAA 2025 tournament – whether people like it or not.
