Gilbert, Jones, called the Wooden Award at the end of the Top 20 – Athletics at Iowa State University Athletics

Los Angeles, California – Iowa State Gilbert Cashon and Curtis Jones were assigned to the John R. Wooden monitoring list at the end of the season. Iowa and Rutgers are the only two schools with multiple players on the list.

Gilbert an average of 14.7 points, 4.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 thefts per match this year. He is one of only 14 players in the country who has hit these estimates this season. He scored the season 24 points twice this year, entering victories over Dayton (November 26) and No. 5 Market (December 4). Gilbert shoots 49.8 percent of the floor and 30.6 percent of the city center, as he leads # 3 cyclones to 18-5 records this season.

The leading goalkeeper for cyclones, Jones averages 17.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per match. Jones had a series of 22-easy games for a regular season of large 12 seasons, where he scored in double digits earlier this season, the longest series in the league for over five years and the 16th longest in the league history. In 15 games outside the bench, Jones is an average of 18.5 points per game. Jones scored the highest 33 points in Arizona on January 25 as he was named the national player of the week Dickie V.

Selected by a group of basketball experts at the National College, the list consists of 20 athletes students who are leading the most prestigious awards at the Basketball College: All-Award Team Wooden Award and the most exclusive player at Wooden Award®.

Players on the list are considered to be strong candidates for the male player of the year 2025 John R. Wooden®. Players who are not selected for the list at the end of the season remain eligible to include Wooden Award® in the national vote. The national newsletter will include 15 top players who have demonstrated at their universities that they are responsible or exceeded by Wooden Award® qualifications.

Wooden Award® voters will be invited to 10 of the 15 ballot players to prefer when the vote opens during the NCAA tournament. Voters will also consider performances in the early rounds of the tournament, the contribution of players to their teams and their character. The All-American Team Wooden Award will be announced during the Elite Eight week of the NCAA tournament.

The winners and all Americans of the John R. Wooden Award in 2025, presented by the director, will be honored at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday, April 11, 2025.
