Boise State Librarian Shelley Doty retired after 34 years of service – Aidaho News

Boise, Idaho (CBS2) – After 34 years of dedicated service, Shelley Doty retired from her role in the Albertsons Library at Boise State University. Doty, who was a major figure in the library’s operations, said her departure was bitter as she would miss the people she had worked with over the years.

“I love working in the library. I love what we do. However, some of the things that stand out for me are the opportunities I had to help people,” Doty said.

Doty plays an important role in ensuring that students and teachers have access to the necessary resources. Her attention to details and the ability to manage many roles is crucial to the success of the library.

“If someone is looking for very specific research, then you need to do a lot of investigations to find what they need, dashes, cuts, spaces and call numbers to know how to help someone find specific items,” Doty explained. “It’s all about the details.”

Her colleagues praised her incomparable working ethics and energy. Andrew Giacomatsi, a senior associate professor Dean and a professor at Boise State University, described Doty as “one species”.

“Shelley Doty is just one kind. She has been in this job for 34 years plus, and this longevity is very rare everywhere these days,” Jamaki said. “And Shelley was at the Command Center, making sure that everything for a library from the consumer experience is certainly up and above the denomination.”

Giacomazzi also emphasized Doty’s ability to build relationships while managing projects. “Of all the project leaders I have worked with over the years at Boise State, I can tell you that Shelley is right at the top of connecting work, but it does it in a fun way, building relationships while doing it,” he “he He said.

As Doty is retirement, she said she was ready for a shorter pace, but admitted that leaving would not be easy. “People. The State University of Boise will honor Doti with a celebration on February 13, giving the Campus community a chance to express his gratitude for his years of service. The event will be held from 3am to 5pm at the College of Innovation and Designer Space for incubator, located on the second floor of the Albertsons Library.
