Next advertisement prohibited to present “unhealthy thin” model – Irvine Times

The ADA Authority (ASA) stated that the “irresponsible” ad uses the angle and style of the camera, as well as the posture of the model to emphasize the subtlety of her legs.

A viewer complained that the ad was irresponsible.

ASA acknowledged that the face of the model does not appear to be insightful and her hands, though thin, do not show protruding bones.

In it, however, he said that the left leg of the model was bent at the right corner, with her thigh looked the same width as the lower legs, and the sharpness of the angle attracted attention to her knee, which was protruding under the tight -fitting leggings.

It seems that the shot is taken from a smaller angle, which already emphasizes the high physics of the model and further emphasizes the subtlety of her legs.

In addition, the pointed shape of her shoes, as well as their positioning, added to the impression of the extended legs of the model, which emphasizes their subtlety.

Other photos of the model within the same product list showed it in different positions and from different angles, and it did not look unhealthy thin in these additional images, ASA said.

The journey said: “As the pose, the angle of the camera and the styling in the advertising, studied, strongly emphasized the subtlety of the legs of the model, we thought that the advertisement gives the impression that the model was unhealthy.

“For the above reasons, we concluded that advertising was irresponsible.”

ASA has ruled that advertising should not reappear in its current form, adding: “Then we said to ensure that the images in their ads are prepared responsibly and do not present the models as unhealthy thin.”
