Topeka opens multiple warming places on Tuesday – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (Wibw) – Some Topeka groups have opened their heating centers on Tuesday.

The warming centers opened at two o’clock Tuesday, February 11 in Topeka’s rescue mission and Hi-Crest Church.

The groups say that everyone deserves a way out of the cold, especially when the conditions can be deadly.

Volunteers are welcome, all donated deliveries are also welcome.

“We love to do this, so it’s a lot of work, but it really makes the mission of who we are here. Just to provide safety, security, warmth and just meet the practical needs of people, so that we can show, to demonstrate that they are worth it, “says John Roberts of Topeka’s rescue mission.

Emporia will also have several warming centers.

The entrance to the Emporia Police Department and the entrance to the sheriff of Lyon County are open 24/7. Pets are also welcome.

The Emporia Public Library is open from 9:00 to 18:00 to Friday and from 13:00 to 17:00 on the weekend.
