Looking at the percentage of pupils meeting the ‘extended standard’, Ofsted has ranked schools using data from the 2023 school year.
Although Ofsted has changed the way it does inspections, this data takes academic data from the Ofsted website provided by the Department for Education.
The Government has announced that headline one-phrase inspection ratings for schools in England are being scrapped, and Ofsted has set out a series of reforms following a major public consultation.
Schools in England will no longer receive one of four overall performance ratings – outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate – in an inspection.
The change, which was announced by the Department for Education (DfE), was withdrawn with immediate effect following criticism of the inspection system following the death of headteacher Ruth Perry.

Mrs Perry took her own life after an Ofsted report downgraded her Caversham Primary School in Reading from its highest rating of ‘outstanding’ to its lowest rating of ‘inadequate’ due to safeguarding concerns.
The coroner concluded that the Ofsted inspection in November 2022 “contributed” to Ms Perry’s death.
But this school year, parents will still be able to see the four ratings in the existing subcategories: Quality of Education, Behavior and Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership and Management.
