St. Paul Police, investigating a possible theft of a well -known statue of F. Scot Fitzgerald – MPR News

St. Paul’s Police Department is investigating the suspect of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s statue, which has been outside the former St. Paul Academy for nearly 20 years. The school is where young Fitzgerald publishes some of its early short stories in the school magazine. He also wrote his first plays while he was a student there from 1908-1911.

The creator of the statue, the sculptor Aaron Daisart, said he had learned about his disappearance on Tuesday.

“I’m still a kind of processing, it just comes as a shock that it’s gone,” he said. “I don’t even know what to think about it. So, on the one hand as a joke, I’m like “Aunt, someone liked it so much to steal it.” But who knows what happened to him? ”

Daisart said the outer sheath of the statue was made of bronze and worked approximately 120-150 pounds. He added that the only way he could be moved was if someone was cutting it out of his base.

St. Paul Nicky Mulhausen’s public information employee says investigators are seeking public help in the case that she said is short of the presenters.

“There was no observation video in this area. So, we just hope that if you see something unusual between February 3 and February 7, someone just called us, “she said. “Fitzgerald is such a proud place for St. Paul. So, it’s just one of those very sad, more emotional thefts, the fact that someone would take it. ”

A second statue of Fitzgerald can be seen in Rice Park in the center of St. Paul. The author of the Big Gatsby was born in the city in 1896. He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles in 1940.
