City of Topeka Road Crews are preparing for winter time – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – The Topeka Public Professional Department is actively monitoring the current weather forecast in the area on Tuesday night on Wednesday for the possibility of considerable snowfall.

Traffic crews were pre -processing roads in anticipation of this storm. As the weather conditions change, crews will adapt the treatment as needed. After the snow begins in Topeka, road crews will prioritize the cleansing arterial and collector paths.

The decision whether the crews will work to treat residential streets will be made on the basis of the total amount of snowfall we receive. In anticipation of the possibility of considerable snowfall, the city asks the residents to park from the street where possible.

To help the road crews more effectively clear the snow in the city center, the city will open parking garages free of charge from 15:00 – 20:00 Tuesday, February 11, and from 18:00 – 6:00 pm Wednesday, February 12th.

The city encourages the public to use parking garages in the city center and leave a parking lot open for snowfall to clear parking spaces during and after the storm.
