It’s clear the New York Jets are ready for the 2024 season.

Owner Woody Johnson reinforced that sentiment when he traded for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams — arguably QB Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target when they were teammates in Green Bay — last week after a tough 23-20 loss to the Bills in Week 7.

Despite holding a 15-13 halftime lead, Gang Green would surrender 31 unanswered points to give the Steelers a huge 37-15 victory Sunday night in Week 8, pushing the Jets’ losing streak to four games.

The Jets are now 2-5 with their playoff/AFC East title hopes on life support unless the franchise can turn things around and win most of their remaining 10 regular season games to finish over or near .500 to end the longest postseason drought (13 seasons) among the four North American professional sports teams.

The Gang Green will get some reinforcements on defense, with pass rusher Haason Reddick — who lost millions of dollars in holdouts since being traded to East Rutherford this offseason before signing a new, adjusted one-year deal earlier this week — made his debut in green and white on Sunday afternoon against the Patriots.

Desperate and in need of a win, this should be the right place and the right time for the Jets, who play their division rival for the second time in five weeks.

After a huge 16-10 win over the Bengals in Cincinnati in Week 1, New England has lost six straight games and turned to No. 3 overall pick QB Drake Maye — who entered the final game at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 19 for his first regular season action — as their new starter under center for the third straight game.

Can the Jets, as heavy road favorites, pull off a win and get back in the win column, or will the Patriots play spoiler and push Gang Green’s hopes of ending a seemingly never-ending playoff drought another year with so much uncertainty after this regular season?

NY Jets vs Patriots Prediction

The choice: Jets 27, Patriots 13

No excuses here. The Jets must and must win this game to have any hopes of playing football in late January against a clearly inferior Patriots team that could end up with the worst record in the NFL this season. Multiple injuries to the Gang Green defense may be a concern here, but in the end, Rodgers and Co. get the job done to keep their slim playoff hopes and chance to win the AFC East alive with a two-score win in Foxborough.
