Third Generation Casino Casino Alex Dixon became CEO of Genting Berhad’s Resorts World Las Vegas on January 16th, part of a new board of directors appointed after reporting his worst quarterly results for two years in the third quarter of 2024 .-The company has been accused of Abito hot summer in the city, as well as for the presidential election year. Dixon, a native of Las Vegas, was previously CEO of the Q Casino & Resort and the Dubuque Racing Association in Iowa. He has more than 20 years of play, hospitality, entertainment, real estate and banking experience in business, which include MGM Resorts International (including president as president and CEO of Circus Circus in Las Vegas), Caesars Entertainment Corp. and Goldman Sachs & Co.

My recent conversation with Dixon was edited for length and clarity:

Question: You grew up in Las Vegas, so it’s a little home return.
A: Yes, I was born and raised in Las Vegas, a third -generation casino employee. My grandmother came here in the mid-1950s, and she was a housekeeper and worked up and down the strip. My father was located here at Nelis Air Force Base, and he was a barbec and a bartender and went to Unlv. … So you can imagine, I pinch every time I enter the building, because it is nothing amazing.

Question: There are not many black executives in the industry. Describe the sense of achievement you have or the responsibility of increasing the variety.
A: We are always looking for the best talent to make sure that we are able to provide the best supply. It is important to admit that the talent comes from every walk of life – old, young, black, white, man, woman, whatever. So we have a solemn obligation as leaders to make sure that in the entertainment capital of The world, no matter where you come from, there is room for you not only to support our industry, but also to help us manage our industry. I was very vowel for my intercession for women to take and raise roles in Las Vegas.

At Iow I was the “CEO in Las Vegas” and joking and saying, in Las Vegas, “I’m the Black CEO.” But reality is, after all, we are human and human connection is what all connects us. So we will fight to ensure that we have the best talent on the market. To do this, you look far and wide and create paths of opportunities so that people can grow and develop regardless of their origin.

I am very aware that my grandmother, when he came here, could not enter through the front door of the casino. We put her to rest only last week, but if you heard her and heard the pride she had in Las Vegas – in our growth and development, her pride from me and the rest of our family – I share this pride. There is a sense of responsibility. This responsibility here is our 5,000 employees to make sure that we open the doors of opportunities, regardless of the origin of the people.

C. What are the challenges and opportunities in the world of resorts?
A. I am a complete type of person. Anything that may seem like a challenge is an opportunity. We generally say, “Bet at the WORLD LAS VEGAS!” With 40 acres of undeveloped land, with some underdeveloped, let’s call it the commercial spaces in our facility, this provides a great platform for the development and exploration and cooperation with people who want to dream big.

As we continue to grow our database, this is another opportunity to join a major game client at every level: in the high class where we welcome people at Crockfords; or premium in Conrad; Or Hilton’s main client. So I don’t see, say, our many brands as challenges. I see them as opportunities because we have the ability to be moisturized and to welcome people from up and down the economic spectrum to have an affordable luxury. We call ourselves a luxury of new money.

The gobel we’re weaving is like … Imagine being Hamilton on the Las Vegas tape. We are able to take the main product, but we deliver it in a unique way that really takes a phenomenal capital that only as Disney can unleash, but bring it to the main stage. Provide it where each of all different spheres of life can be able to explore affordable and new money luxury.

Question: What is the most important thing for the executive team?
A: Our main game client: People who are here who love and enjoy where Las Vegas has gone, which means that they can experience shows, can live our great hospitality. We want to make sure that those clients who love the well -rounded hospitality we can suggest that they think of us at the top of the mind, so you don’t have to choose a great game for games and a great hospitality.

Q: What are you excited about?
A: We are excited about the great restaurant offers; [one by chef] Jeremy Ford will soon open. Janet Jackson performs. Carrie Underwood is back. We received the NBA Summer League, Kevin Hart Weekend. I sit in eight salon, which is the best cigar salon in Las Vegas. So we have all the right things. We have a great steak, now we have to add a little boiling. This is the exciting and sexy part of what lies ahead.

Q: And the longer term?
A: We have a huge amount of land we have access to. We have a beautiful asset, which is 3500 hotel rooms, but we have the right that in this space we could have a master plan that can include up to 10,000 hotel rooms. So we need to be focused on the long -term development opportunity.

We can rush in a way that we can take advantage of this new emerging part of the tape, bring people to this area and expose them. In the two weeks, when the NBA Summer League is here, you will see us more active. There is an activation with Mrbebeast [the YouTube mega-influencer]S Using multimedia partnerships we have in Netflix [and others]We can use Las Vegas and Resorts World as a backdrop to help brands start, whether these are their new products or tell their stories.

There is room for more conventional space. There is room for more outdoor entertainment. There is room for more hotel rooms and apartments, so we have a master plan. We will continue to improve this.
