Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – The tax season can be a real headache for many, but the VITA tax support program aims to alleviate tension.

Vita is a program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that provides free tax assistance to those eligible. The program helps people get their taxes in an accurate and timely manner.

VITA coordinator at Washburn University and Washburn Law student Andrew Doyan said volunteers could lift weight from your shoulders.

“Every step of the road will have someone there to take care of the people who enter and hold their hands throughout the process. You will have a volunteer to sit with you to enter all your information into our tax system, but then this volunteer is checked twice by a person. “Our volunteers are just regular people like everyone else. They are regular people who have had a little more training and who have decided to spend their time voluntarily and help their communities. We are not a whole bunch of stickers, in every way we are just regular people who want to help other regular people who really influence the community in a positive way. “

Doin noted that the first step in acquiring peace of mind this season is to ask for help.

“The tax system is very complicated.
