Former Warriors star fights NFL legend’s opinion of Stephen Curry after Kyrie Irving spat – EssentiallySports

Debates comparing two prominent players fill the NBA world. from “Who is the GOAT between Michael Jordan and LeBron James” to “Which Was The Better Rivalry” such questions have often intrigued not only fans, but also players, both current and former. One former player was so bold as to prefer Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry at one point. Even after a month, the NBA personality doesn’t seem to have changed his tune!

NFL legends DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy host the “The 25 10 Show”recently invited Nick Young for an interview. During the conversation, the topic shifted to discussing Stephen Curry. The 2018 NBA champion revealed that the Warriors star’s ability to constantly be on the move sets him apart from the rest. After facing Curry in 15 games over 9 years and being his teammate for one season, Young eventually realized that one can’t just stand still if they want to defend the all-time three-point leader.

Despite all the praise that came from the former player for Curry, he had to miss out “oooh” when asked if he would choose to declare him the greatest point guard of all time.

“I would say he is number one. for all time,” Young said. At the same time, co-host LeSean McCoy chimed in and decided to declare Curry the GOAT PG over Magic Johnson. After all, that was his belief “He (Curry) doesn’t fit in with that crowd and he’s still there. He’s not the fastest, he doesn’t jump the highest, he’s not the biggest, he’s not the most explosive, but he’s up there with all these other greats. That’s why I say to myself, “There’s no one else like him.”

Unfortunately, even before McCoy could make his case, Young was already like, “Look, I don’t know.” Young’s confused state is similar to what many NBA fans are feeling. While Swagi P was ready to consider Steph as the GOAT PG, hearing someone pass him over 5x champion Magic Johnson made him take a step back.

Nick Young’s recent resistance to putting Stephen Curry ahead of Magic Johnson wasn’t going to help him defend his case against the same NBA enthusiasts who weren’t all that impressed with what the former player said about a month ago.

Nick Young once used a Kobe Bryant-Michael Jordan comparison to put Kyrie Irving ahead of Stephen Curry

Back in late August, Young posted a tweet stating, “kyrie is kobe driving mj ppl afraid to say he’s better,” accompanied by a side-eye emoticon. For some, this statement was a source of confusion as to exactly what the former player was trying to express. Others, however, understood Young to be implying that people are sometimes afraid to put Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry, the same way some were hesitant to pick Kobe Bryant over Michael Jordan.

A few days later, Young would add to his conviction during an appearance on the Gilbert Arena podcast, stating, “I like Curry. I like both, but the way people talk about Kyrie is not the same way people talk about Curry.

Young’s remarks were not well received by many. Jonah Kubicek, journalist for “give me sport” considers the tweet disrespectful to three NBA legends. According to him, “Saying Jordan is worse than Bryant is disrespectful to MJ, saying Irving is better than Curry is disrespectful to the greatest shooter of all time, and comparing Bryant and Irving is disrespectful to the Black Mamba .” Warriors Talk reported that the former player’s statement sparked debate, with some defending Irving on the grounds that he “more qualified”.

When discussing underrated players among today’s NBA stars, Kyrie Irving’s name often pops up. Along with averaging 23.6 points, 4 rebounds and 5.7 assists over 13 years, the player is often praised for his acrobatic finishes, memorable crossover moves and his iconic pull-up jump shots, including a remarkable one that he did over Stephen Curry himself during the 2016 NBA Finals.

However, there were some factors in the player’s career that worked against him. On the one hand, Irving has arguably found success in the shadow of other key players like LeBron James and Luka Doncic. Although he got his moment to shine with the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets, his departure from the Celtics put him among the franchise’s most hated fans. Stephen Curry, meanwhile, devoted his entire career to one franchise, leading it for more than a decade and ushering in its golden era by securing four championships.

Fortunately, the question posed by the NFL legends didn’t mention Kyrie Irving, giving Young a chance to put Curry on the pedestal and avoid trouble like before. However, if you had to choose between Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry, who would you prefer?
