Emergency services were called to Hurworth Burn Road, Trimdon, at around 1pm on Saturday (October 26), following reports of an incident on the bridge over the River Skerne on the stretch of road.
Police closed the road to allow them and ambulance crews to work at the scene, with the North East Ambulance Service confirming two people were taken to hospital.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called to a two vehicle road traffic collision on Hurworth Burn Road, Trimdon shortly before 1pm this afternoon.
“We dispatched two dual-crew ambulances and a specialist paramedic. Two patients were taken to North Tees Hospital.’
It is not yet known what the condition of the people who are in hospital is.
Durham Police have been contacted for a statement regarding the incident.
