DEVORE, CA (VVNG.com) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed the driver of an SUV Saturday afternoon in Cajon Pass.
It happened around 1:09 p.m. on October 26, 2024, on southbound I-15 just north of the 215 interchange.
According to CHP incident logs, a gray GMC Yukon with Florida plates was traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing into the guardrail.
After the impact, the male driver was reportedly unconscious and CPR was being performed. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and transported the unidentified driver to hospital.
At 3:43 p.m., CHP logs said the medical examiner reported the cause of death was unknown and the deceased man had no “noticeable” injuries.
The Kenwood ramp to southbound I-15 was shut down due to the crash. The CHP temporarily shut down the southbound lanes while a tow truck attended the crash scene.
CHP logs show several vehicles stopped near the accident, but it is not known at this time if they were involved.
The official cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino. Additional information, including the identity of the deceased driver, will be updated as it becomes available.
