The state approves some funding for closed replacement of the Eckert Bridge, ACHD still needs more – boiseev.com

Much of the funding for a highly disintegrated Boise Bridge is provided.

Ada’s highway area announced on Friday that Eckert Rd. The replacement of the bridge will be funded through state dollars. As reported earlier by Boiseev, ACHD issued an emergency closing of the Eckert Rd. The bridge on January 31, after a check, opened a severe collapse of the pillars for the bridge support, which affected its load capacity.

ACHD said the local highway technical assistance council has accepted ACHD’s application for Eckert Rd. Replacing a bridge under the leading program for a local bridge in Idaho. Design and construction costs will be funded through this program, which allocates funds for situations like this.

Public Information Officer ACHD Rachel Bjornestad said the exact cost of the project has not yet been determined. Bjornestad told Boiseev that LHTAC funding would cover the bigger part of the replacement, but would not cover the extra length that ACHD had previously planned to add to the bridge to redirect the roads in the area. LHTAC funding will also not cover pedestrian and cycling sails. In order to construct the bridge with these earlier planned amenities, ACHD will have to enter part of the bill it plans to make.

Bjornestad said other ACHD projects are still likely to be delayed to release some funding, but the area will not know until it receives the project price.

“It is not excluded. But since we have the funding of LHTAC, which will cover much of it, this makes the situation much better, “said Bjornestad.

No timing line has been defined. ACHD said it “will work closely with LHTAC as they administer the contract to ensure that this critical project is moving forward effectively.” Bjornestad said the bridge will be updated to current standards and that the tree will no longer be used for some of its parts.

The bridge of the 1950s is the main route in the Barber Valley. According to ACHD, the highway area works with the Idaho Transport Department to identify potential “intermediate solutions that could strengthen the bridge while planning a replacement.” ACHD said more information about these temporary solutions should be released later this week.

Barber Park remains open during the closure of the bridge.
