Awarded Local Ice Cream at Old Town Scottsdale. What to know – Yahoo Life

Sweet Republic is opening a new place in the Old Town of Scotsdale on March 1, co -owner Helen Jung said in a statement to the Republic.

Owners Jung and Jan Wichajanuparp arrived in ice cream on an unconventional way. They were investment bankers in New York, but after the September 11 attack against the World Trade Center, they re -evaluated their careers and decided to make a change. Jung attended Le Cordon Blyu and Wichaanaparp eating his way through Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. The duo chose ice cream because “it made people happy.”

Since its opening in 2008 in Scotsdale, the duet added stores in Phoenix and Tempe and won both local awards and national recognition, with a mention in the top 10 of Bon Appetit at the best ice cream stores and the best thing you I have ever eaten: Ice cream! on the food network. Jung’s salt oil caramel appeared at Bon Appetit, her banana Sundae’s banana won Brown’s heart, and her extreme Sundae landed in a column with good things.

As they continue to grow, adding their fourth place, Jung and Wichaanaparp commit to making sure that their growth does not compromise the quality of their handmade ice creams.
