More than 1,000 students were evacuated after a fire broke out at the University of Birmingham University during a sports night.

The incident happened on Wednesday, February 5 at about 2:30 am.

This is when the fire alarm came out throughout the guild of students and students were introduced by staff and security. Images from the events students gathered from the mermaid fountain before the event was officially canceled around 3 in the morning.

According to a student who is present on a sports night when asked about the number of attendees of the event, said on the Birmingham section: I would be very surprised if there were at least 1000 people. “

An anonymous student who attended the club night added: “I didn’t know what was going on. I was in Joe’s bar when the music stopped and everyone started to burst. I thought they might close early, but then I heard the fire alarm. It was crazy. “

What was initially considered a training session soon led to panic after many people reported the smell of smoke in the building.

The Birmingham section has access to exclusive footage that shows a fire spokesman in an underground. This is thought to be the cause of the evacuation, although the Guild of Students has not yet confirmed this.

In the five seconds, a video can be heard shout as the camera increases to the speaker, which clearly shows the fire with a smoke rising from the speaker.

The music can be heard that it still plays the background while employees tell students to evacuate.

A second year student who attends a sports night talks about her concern: “We all thought it should be a workout, so no one was so stressed. But when I left, I smelled smoke coming from the underground, and then I realized that it should be a real fire.

“We asked some of the staff if they knew what was going on, but they couldn’t say anything.”

This fire is not the first time a major incident happened in the University of Birmingham University. In November 2023, he erupted in an underground on Dick & Dom Fab’s long -awaited night, injuring many students. Student Guild suggested a recovery for the recovery of the tickets sold, but the incident hit national news after a member of security staff talked about their safety concerns.

The Birmingham section contacted the student’s guild, but has not yet received an answer.
