I’m not very surprised, but you certainly feel passionate about who has the best pizza in the Wilmington area.

We posted a story a month ago by reporter Alison Ballard in Mesta to find regional pizza styles. In the column, I asked you to weigh your favorite spots on pizza.

I received many answers – too much to list them all. Some of you have offered places that I have tried, including Brooklyn Pizza and Kugino Forno. They both offer delicious pizzas and were mentioned by several readers.

Most of you have recommended places I haven’t been to before, so I plan to add them to my list. These include Don Luke, Ledo’s, Vito’s, Pies On and Oval and Ale.

One of the more interesting emails was very specific about what pizza to get at Wrightsville Beach Brewry. The reader said that “nothing compares” to the pizza of the Crast Cake, which has a base of Creole sauce garnished with mozzarella cheese, grated homemade cake, capers and red onions.

In this note, I hope you have had a chance to read today’s Alison Cover History of Wilmington’s growing coffee culture. In our area we have more than 100 cafes and at least a dozen open in 2024.

I drink coffee, but usually just the first thing in the morning at home. This said that the trend of cafes offering experiences – such as cocktails, gifts for sale and play areas – interesting. I see the attractiveness of cafes as collection places, not just order.
