Denzel Washington says he smiled when he learned about his gladiator 2 Oscar Snub

Denzel Washington was honored in gladiator 2 as a hungry power Makrin, but despite some early awards, the actor was not nominated for the Oscars 2025. Not that he was very interested in it.

“I was sitting there, smiling, going, look at you. On the day you didn’t get an Oscar nomination, you were working on Broadway Oscar. Are you kidding,” he said in a recent interview with The New York Times. The actor plays a leading role in a new production of Othello, which enters the previews on February 24, with Jake Gyllenhaal being involved as Iago.
